Overview

Responsible for reviewing and addressing technical, medical and viability issues on claimant cases pending at one of the first two levels of the Social Security process. Primary duties include resolving complex claim issues, and sharing knowledge with claims specialists. Instructs, mentors, and trains peers and support staff. Performs work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  1. Reviews new claims to Allsup and resolves discrepancies as necessary prior to submission to Social Security. Also reviews work of other team members before submission to SSA/DDS/ODAR if requested.
  2. Determines in each case whether an application serves the claimant and always represents their best interests; consider coordination of all benefits to which they may be entitled. Be resourceful in gathering information from multiple sources (i.e.: claimant, SSA, client company).
  3. Research and identify reference material to support case development and documentation.
  4. Cultivates and maintains a professional rapport with claimants, SSA, DDS, and client companies
  5. Ensures filing dates and retroactive benefit eligibility are met.
  6. Processes work in a timely and accurate manner.
  7. Accurately and thoroughly document system notes of all conversations and actions.
  8. Maintains technical knowledge of all SSA programs and procedures.
  9. Reviews claims for viability and closure. Contacts claimant/clients to review and discuss.
  10. Analyzes medical evidence and submits when appropriate. Researches and identifies reference material to support case development and documentation.
  11. Participates in training sessions and demonstrations.
  12. Maintains strict confidentiality of claimant information, procedural manuals, client/prospect lists, information on new business ventures, and other confidential Allsup information.
  13. Mentor peers and support staff.
  14. Assist, on an as needed basis, with claims specialist job functions. Including, but not limited to, phone intakes, appeals, ADLs, etc.
  15. Work on special projects (presumptive report, protective filing, etc.)

 

Qualifications

Essential Job Requirements:

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to learn and apply technical instructions. Minimum one to two years of Allsup claims handling responsibilities and experience or equivalent claims experience, including DDS or SSA experience.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Professional oral/telephone communication skills. Superior organizational skills. High level of initiative. Excellent knowledge of Word and Excel.
